心理學家榮格把樹視為轉化夢境的重要象徵。他同時將樹連結至十字架,象徵生命之樹。古馬雅民族亦視木棉樹為連接地下、地面世界與精神世界(sprit world)的渠道。事實上木棉樹亦因其筆直而鮮紅的花而得名英雄樹。如今英雄倒下,人們頓覺空虛失落,失去支柱。
我希望透過這件作品去重現這棵木棉樹的局部,延續它本身的任務,亦讓人重新思考應該如何看待木棉樹、樹木和自然界。
作品的概念是要連接與再生。作品底下的木頭部份是代表被砍伐剩下的樹頭,透明的樹幹部份就是我、孩子們、和所有人為這棵古木棉樹合力完成,再現木棉的生命。
Psychologist Carl Gustav Jung had once deemed trees as an important symbol for dream conversion. Meanwhile he connected trees to the cross, with a connotation of a tree of life. The ancient Mayan race also treated cotton trees as a channel linking between the underground, the world on the ground as well as the spirit world. In fact, ceiba trees are also named as hero trees for their upright and bright red flowers. Now, with the collapse of the Hero, people are depressed for the loss of their pillars of support.
I wish to place the emphasis on the part of this ceiba through this piece of work, with an extension of the mission of itself. This would also allow us to consider against the way we should view cotton trees, other trees and the nature.
The conceptualisation of the works is about connection and rebirth. The underlying of the work includes the wood part, which represents the part of the residual truck apart from those chopped down; the transparent truck part equaling me, the kids and those who jointly complete this ancient ceiba tree, while leading to the rebirth of the ceiba.
